as well....live bearers like mollies and guppies are so incredibly inbred that there are inherant problems from the get go.

chlorine....like bleach is very unstable in water. they say 24 hours to rid of all chlorine.....but i find 2 or 3 hours looks after it normally. as for the cloudy water...most faucets do this. leave it for 5 mins and it goes away. it is ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about...

Renee....SW isnt REALLY more work than FW....but keep in mind...you need lots of extra knowledge and the initial cost is through the roof. it is extremely rewarding but doesnt come cheap. if you do decide to try this we will be more than happy to help tho...
and also....glad to hear the small tank is coming along. Aquatics can be a very exciting family hobby. some families play boardgames...and some work with fish....lol

not really....not often enough too make it viable anyways. the species i had was A. Acleatus.they are one of the more famous breeds for being at the end of their lives by the time you get them. the big thing with octos is to do your rersearch before you get them. for example....there is a blue ring octo. it is one of the most poisonous animals in the world.. 1 octo can kill 26 full grown men...with no antidote. most are to some point poisonous....but they are very intelligent and quite affectionate. cant wait to find a cuttlefish......lol

they are kinda. their lifespans are very short....my octopus had a lifespan of 1 year. you dont know how old they are when you get them....my guy charlie (there are pics on another post) was pretty old when i got him. i had him for near 3 months before his passing.

nerites are the only FW snail i have ever kept. i hate snails but nerites are cool cause of their reproduction. when i had 1 i researched and most info i found said their lives should be in the neighborhood of 2 years. also.....cucumber and zuccini, and romaine lettuce seemed to be my guys favorite.

i second what jon said about the convicts....they can easily become almost a virus in your tank with NO viable market. another beauty to add if you can find a nice one is a vieja. they are my fav SA and from my experience are very docile for a large cichlid...

if you are going to cut the doses in half you should close to double the days for treatment. continue with frequent small water changes of 25% every other day.

if you are in fear of over medicating, the half doses at the same times you are dealing with now should suffice. the meds wont change things as quickly at half dose but they will still be effective...

that will help. as well you can cut the meds in half and go for a longer treatment time...

i can`t imagine the horsepower it takes to lift that out of the water. assuming it would be terrible for slow fish trolling.....lol
