I have noticed many years now that the water from my faucet comes out cloudy.
I am fairly sure this is mainly with the hot water and in winter the most but I am not 100% sure. I also try to run the water a bit before starting a water change.
I have ignored it until now because I figured it was just water bubbles because the water often comes out at a fast speed and the particles I see that make the water cloudy travel up like bubbles.
However, recently, when I have done water changes, I noticed some of the particles seem to go up but not all. These could still be bubbles although I am not sure.
I know it does not seem to make my tanks cloudy. But my major concern is icould this could be harmful to my fish?
Also, I tested the water from the tap and let it sit 4 hours before doing so. For some odd reason, the chlorine showed up as being 0. I did not add anything to this water to eliminate chlorine. This is good for my fish. However, I know chlorine normally takes 24 hours to dissipate. Is this normal?
Thanks. Renee

chlorine....like bleach is very unstable in water. they say 24 hours to rid of all chlorine.....but i find 2 or 3 hours looks after it normally. as for the cloudy water...most faucets do this. leave it for 5 mins and it goes away. it is ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about...

Glad to hear this. I was fairly sure everything was fine, just making sure. Thanks for the info!

You say it's mostly the hot water and more pronounced in winter. I'd say the majority of it is probably AIR.
If your water is like mine, the rest of it is probably precipitate in the water, aka hard water.
