My king betta some how jumped out if the tank and sadly didn’t make it. But I did redo my 5 1/2 gallon tank for my one betta and he’s happy.

Thank you.
The light is a clip on LED light from Aqueon and is good for the plants I have. I had it on a smaller tank and moved it to this tank.

I put a few guppies in with my betta and he leaves them alone. I will remove them soon, I’m going to be adding some shrimp to the tank soon, he ignored ghost shrimp once before.

Each betta is has it’s own personality, my other two boys aren’t as friendly. They beg for food and flare at their reflections often. I decided to swap out the blue dividers with my old plastic mesh dividers, allows more flow. Also went from 4 sections to 3 sections, gives them more room. The middle section is going to be for a super red rose petal halfmoon I’m going to get soon. I have to much blue in my bettas.

I am waiting on a mail order betta to fill the middle section of my 20 long. I may tear it down and replace it with 2 6 gallons and 1 3 gallon rimless tanks or try to fit 3 6 gallon rimless tanks. Each will have its own sponge filter. But it’s only an idea. Here’s an update on my 5.5 gallon tank. I took the guppies out and moved them back to the 40 Breeder. I picked up some galaxy Rasboras and a dwarf crayfish, also tossed my Nerite Snail into the tank as well. The Rasboras seem to love the plants and hiding places and my betta ignores them.

Smaller tanks are easier for me to maintain and move. May tear the 20 gallon down and put the two bettas in temporary gallon tanks or move one to the 40 gallon and put the other in my 2.5 gallon tank till I can get the other tanks I’m looking to get. The 2.5 can hold my sponge filter. The light I have I can use to span the 3 tanks, and the bubbler can handle 3 sponge filters. I can sell off the 20 gallon or give it to someone. These are mostly ideas. Trying to find ways to get tanks I can move easily due to my shoulder injury.

Couldn’t get rimless tanks so I picked up two more 5.5 gallon tanks and two lids. I also picked up two small/mini sponge filters and a splitter for the air line tubing. Going to use the sand, wood and rock to scape the tanks so it’ll be a mini cycle in each tank. I will be setting the tanks up soon.

My new betta had arrived and has settled in nicely. He is showing interest in food and goes after it, but it’ll be a few days till he eats.

Her looks really nice! What is his type? He’s a salamander butterfly halfmoon. He was an import and he has some of the biggest fins I’ve seen. He’s active and shows interest in food and goes for it.

About a week ago my heater that I had in my new betta’s tank had malfunctioned and raised the temp well above 100F degrees. I noticed that he was laying in the bottom breathing heavy. The tank was very warm to the tough. I had pulled him from the tank and unplugged the heater. He had survived the incident and is back to his active self. He has been building nests every other day.

The heater was a 50 watt heater. Made for 2-15 gallon tanks. I have one in another tank and its been fine. It’s just weird for it to just overheat... it was working fine for a few weeks before this.

Actually, unless your ambient temperature is really extremely low, a 50 watt heater is too high for a 5.5 gallon aquarium as per the formula provided by the link. Really a 15 to maybe 25 watt is the most this size aquarium should need in most circumstances An example of a 15 watt: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_heater.html#undergravel
