something to add as well. and this one is very important. a freshwater ray has 1-3 barbs that are highly poisonous. in fact they are quite a bit more poisonous than their salt water counterparts. this being said....they will shed their barbs every 4-6 months. those barbs will sit in the sand for up to a year. during this time the barb retains its venom and can sting you while it is unattached. do some reading and listen to the horror stories. most say "it didnt kill me but it made me wish i was dead" or something along those lines.BE CAREFUL.....

motoro`s get quite large. Is the 200 a standard 200? with raYS, they live on the bottom in the sand so a large foot print is more important. as for the harmony of 2 species of ray togeather go, that is a tough one. the best advice i can offer is to get as big a foot print as you can and keep only like size fresh water rays and i`d say they should be fine. rays are quite timid and seldom show much aggression so introduction at the same time should work fine. by the way....both rays mentioned are 2 of the easiest rays to keep. lots of waterchanges (weekly 20%) and you will have 2 great pets....

Renee. a certain amount of stunting will happen but that doesnt have to mean they are unhealthy. what is unhealthy are too many larger fish in the tank. what i`d recommend, and i know ya don`t wanna hear it...but getting rid of a couple of the fish is the best answer....

a lil something to add....the octopus spends alot of time hiding...unless the tv is on...then he attaches himself as close to the tv as possible and watches. he seems to like the "scooby doo" cartoons that my son loves the most.....

this fellow`s mantle is about an inch and his arms outstretched are about 2 feet long so a fiddler may be too large and would die too quickly before he was eaten. what i thought about are ghost shrimp. i can usually get these guys from between .33-$1 each and i doubt they would suffer long. as you all know....i am very against live food, but i am a lil concerned....altho there are now a few bites out of the clam....so all hope may not be lost. also when i add mysis shrimp he changes colors quickly. he gets very excited. we have also bought a mirror for him and some shiney opalescent round glass pieces that he seems to like. i will hopefully be able to figure out how to add a video on here for you all to see.
I don`t think i have ever been this excited about aquatics before. even went out and replaced my hydrometer for a very expensive refractometer today. I want this guy to stay happy for his short life. In defense of these animals....they are FAR to intelligent to be kept in an aquarium so it is extremely important to me to constantly simulate his mind always...

as well....any suggestions n how to get him to eat better. i have been feeding him cocktail shrimp, mussels, mysis shrimp, and live clams. he doesnt seem to have eaten any of it . i realise some fish require time to start eating...but these guys should have vorascious appetites. not toooo concerned yet....but i will be soon. btw, he loves his new mirror....

going to buy some batteries for the cam today.....but after having this guy around for 15 hours or so....all i can say is for those of you who dont believe in aliens from other planets....you need to watch an octopus for awhile. their blood isnt even red, it is blue... after such a short time as my new roomie....he has shown curiosity, and already seems to recognise us. watching him change colors is amazing too. will try to add pics later today...

sounds too crowded....especially with the arrowana. these fish all get too big for a 210 togeather unless you get them all small...

he came from quality marine. i went and saw him yesterday. he ate a chromis and was very excited. i saw him change colors twice while i was there. they are like mood rings. their colors will change depending on their moods.
He is coming home sometime today. the next 6 months should be fun. we are taking some of his tank mates out today and gonna give to my salt water store guy. 1 is the valentine puffer. he is quite slow and wont deal well with an ambush hunter and the others are the 2 marine catfish. they will compete too hard for food. we will replace him after the big fella passes on in 4-6 months.
the snails and the starfish are staying.
also, his toys are almost all ready for him. we have a couple plastic balls and action figures (man talk for dolls...lol). now we are just getting small jars etc for him to open for his food. can`t wait...
