Hi Everybody,
I really appreciate the caring, and most knowledgeable info that you all shared a couple months back.
I use prescription bottles w/matrix in all three of the 2gal. tanks. Not working out for me. Works somewhat in Kim & Kams' tanks but not at all in B-blues' tank. Every three days the readings in his tank shows ammonia! He doesn't get over fed either.
So Kams' fin rot has moved up his skin between the pelvic and caudal fins.
Is there any thing else I can do for him, other than more in tank dosing with meds? Maybe just baths? I am concerned about his fins rotting up close to his skin, though. Appetite is good, small poo's daily, curious, swims about, he's hangin' in there.
.
Also, B-blue that my neighbor left with me a couple months ago, is going down hill now.
He's stopped making bubble nests, poo's every five days, started chomping his caudal and dorsal fins (that has pretty much stopped unless he circles around and sees his fins), and now he looks like he has fungus, on his face, dorsal and caudal fins and maybe on one side.
I tried bettafix two or three weeks ago. This was recommended by my LFS. Didn't do anything and found out its only to be used as an antiseptic! Geez... It didn't hurt him any and used it with Kam as well. He's doing fine, also.
B-blue was a GORGEOUS crown-tail, and now his crowns look thin, not fat, kinda stringy, sticky.
His appetite is good.
I wanted to ask you about using Pimafix. Would really like to try something more natural.
If you think it is worth a try, how should this be dosed out for a 1.75gal tank? How often, and when to make water changes. No filter or bubbler is in the tank.
B-blue is definitely going to be housed in a 5gal. tank. I have a sponge filter already seeded. So while B-blue is being treated for the fungus I'll set up the 5gal and have it ready for him when his treatments are over. His ammonia deal is ridiculous.
I must be honest but I feel ashamed to say this. I have done harm to all the bettafish I've had. Not intentionally, I love all animals yet these precious fish that lived with me, their lives has been short, medicated, lives. B-blue makes #7, and I still not getting how to do it right. I'm frustrated...and it should be a joy.
Well I hope to hear from you regarding Pimafix.
Thanks so much
Cheri
