Hello all...Brenda asked if I would join and show off some of my tanks. I can't ever resist showing off my fish, so of course I accepted.
I'm Barbara, and I live in San Antonio. My main interest is Cichlids, specifically Victorians. I keep a number of tanks, including some basic fun planted tanks.
I'll post some pictures shortly of some of my fish and set ups.
Hope to have a good time here!

GOOD DEAL Barbara!!! I'm going to be starting up a Victorian collection that will eventually lead into a Victorian tank soon. Brenda is a great lady and very smart and open. She's one of those people I'm just glad I got to communicate with. I think you'll find our group diverse, with times even view points are not matched up, but the biggest difference in this group then others, is there are no infighting and name calling and punitive actions taken on opinions that don't agree, that you tend to see in other private forums. Can't wait to see the pictures, and feel free to share your information and ask away.

I will probably share more than you want to know about my fish. Ask Brenda...she knows ALL about my fish, has seen many many pictures...and is probably sick to death of them.
I'm working with several clubs in their endangered species programs. If you all would like, when I post pictures, I can give a brief description of the care and maintenance of the species that I am keeping. Also status of the endangered ones.

That sounds great!!! No I am obviously not sick of your pictures. As you guys will see Barbara has quite a few different species of Vics. Her goals are to try and help preserve/save a lot of these species form extinction!!! JonV also has a couple species of Madagascar cichlids he is wanting to work with. They are pretty cool as well, just most get to big for me to keep.

For me it's not only too big on the Madagascar species, it's a matter of water quality. I have hard, high ph water coming straight from the tap, so it's easy for me to keep Africans. Plus, San Antonio has a lot of fish that aren't found many other places, most of those being Victorians.
I also keep some fun tanks, just stuff I like as well, I take my Vics a little bit seriously. Some of the fish I keep I'd have a very hard time replacing.

Welcome to our group Barbara, and thanks to Brenda for inviting you! I look forward to your Victorian posts/pics as this is an area that I am trying learn more about (Brenda and Jon have already taught me much) My experience has been Malawi and Tanganyikan, however Victorians were not commonly kept during my years spent keeping African Cichlids for me and my clients.
