What are the advantages of this UV Sterilizer over other leaders in this limited Category A of aquarium/pond UV Sterilizers, namely the TMC and Aqua lines? Well, what category A have over others is the long contact time with high surface area zapping power. TMC and now EvoAqua have the highest UVc output/contact per watt used being that they use T8 lamps over T5 lamps like Aqua. The T5 is much narrower meaning less surface area of UVc hitting water. There's also reports of higher output at the beginning of a T5 lamps, but since it's only connected electrically at one end, it loses intensity down the lamp. The TMC and EvoAqua also have a slight narrow chamber getting all water closer to the lamp. So, watt per watt the TMC and Evolution Aqua are higher output. Now for TMC vs EvoAqua. Right now we technically have only the clarifier line of EvoAqua, where TMC has a sterilizer and a clarifier line. EvoAqua doesn't supply the sterilizer line to the US yet. The difference is in the diameter of the chamber, with the sterilizer line having a narrower chamber then the clarifier. The wider chamber allows for higher flow clarification of larger bodies of water. It can still be used to sterilizers at slower rates for smaller bodies of water thou! We have different sterilizer rates for the EvoAqua vs the TMC. Both TMC and Evoluation Aqua's 110w clarifiers can clear ponds up to 20k gals. With category A sterilizers, even smaller units or bit wider units can give sterilization with the correct flow and application turn over! Both TMC and EvoAqua have a Titaium line, but only TMC has released it to the US. Both commercial grade with a lot of projects with fish rooms, breeders, pool, etc applications. Both very easy to work on, with the ballast rarely having issues. One thing that stands out with the EvoAqua right now is the packing of the unit from us and to the customer. The whole unit comes separately packed (body, quartz sleeve, and lamp), which should save on breakage. Also, we haven't had MAP issues with EvoAqua yet. That all said, the EvoAqua is a bit more expensive, but this comes down to a safer electrical rating that EvoAqua has that TMC doesn't. Since we've never had an really issue with this for the TMC, it's nice to have, but not required. Making the TMC still the highest output of UVc per $ spent. Now we just have another option for a professional grade sterilizer!
