BOO! Yes I'm still alive LOL. Hope all of you are well. It's been a slow process getting my aquarium back up and running in the new house when all my extra money goes into paying for gas to get to work I'm getting ready to do the 120 gallon and 90 gallon and was just browsing around when I came across the discussion of anoxic biocenosis clarification baskets and plenums. It's an interesting discussion that has gotten pretty nasty. I stumbled across this after not being able to decide on a substrate for the tanks, so I thought I'd settle on various "pond plant baskets" put around the tank with layered substrate in which the aquarium plants would go in. Then I came across the afore mentioned discussion and thought about doing a BCB in the planters. Doing a plenum would mean committing to a substrate and I'm still not ready to do that....yet. I understand the concept but fail to understand how often you have to change out the iron source in this layered filtration. That would mean tearing up a tank....and no one likes to do that. talk soon, Mike
