Alright so i dunno if anyone remembers, but this summer one of my goldies got this gross wound looking thing on his side that started out red and then swelled, and when i started treating, it started to puss, like a thick white chunky substance came out where the wound was in between his scales.
I noticed tonight in the exact same spot he has a sore again, it looks like he hit it almost its a darker red almost like blood or something under the scales.
Last time I treated him with a mixture of kanaplex aaaannnd metrodizonal or however the heck you spell it as well as MB baths, should I do the same treatment again this time?
I don't think anyone had any ideas what it was last time either, do you guys have any new ideas about what this could be?

I had a fish that turned up with wounds like this before, very much like what you are describing and what it looks like in the picture. What it turned out to be was two territorial fish sparring with each other and biting the same part of the side over and over again. Have you noticed anyone acting aggressively or is this fish acting stressed at all?
I am definitely not the expert that a lot of people are on this forum, but I would think that if a course of treatment fixed a similar problem before that it would stand to reason that that should be the first place for you to start.
I hope that's helpful, sorry your fish is sick.

No they don't really fight at all, sometimes they shove at each other when its feeding time but nothing too violent. All three goldies have been together for over a year, so I'd think this would happen alot more often if they were agressive towards each other. They have seemed a little lethargic lately, more so than usual.

This appears to be a sore that MAY be caused by a parasite (although your fish looks good otherwise). I would perform the baths as you did before (a drop of MB directly on the sore may be helpful as well). Adding a double dose of Metronidazole to the bath and normal doses to the tank would be a good idea as well IMO. You might also consider Jungle Parasite Clear in the tank as well (instead of Metronidazole since this is an ingredient in Parasite Clear). One more consideration is the use of Potassium Permanganate instead of MB as it is stronger for parasite problems. Then of course this may simply be a sore, for which the baths certainly help (Melafix is also helpful for sores in tank) Carl

i pretty much have to agree with the others. to me it looks like a wound that "happens to be in the same place". keep in mind, wounds arent always aggression related. if you think about it....we have all had a broken bone or a fattened lip from something we have done to ourselves without any aggression from any others. as for treatment, if it was similar last time....i`d do the same treatment as before or more so, what was recommended by Carl....

I personally have never had a goldfish with a disease related to a wound (though I've had ich many times before I gto the hang of it).
I second what Bikeguy and Carl said.
Also, sometimes my goldfish turn up with very strange discolorions but it goes away in as little as a few hours. However, since you meationed that the sore is in the exact place, it may be a little more likely it isn't just a mark. Sorry i can't be of better help. I've kept many goldfish but have never had one get a wound.
