Hello Everyone, I have just begun treating what appears to be an ulcerative area on one of my gold barbs. For at least 5 months it was just a white area just cranial to tail and never changed and fish all seemed fine. Now it is red and white and the male gold barb seems to pestering her and possibly picking on that area. Not sure if it is trauma or infection so started treating with pimafix and a med wondershells. Have also put in one dose of furan 2 but ran out and have ordered more. Any problems with the combination of meds? Read everything on the website about pimafix and med WS but didn,t notice any Contraindications? Thanks for any insights you may have.

Those shouldn't be a problem. Does the sore look something like this: Aeromonas If so, I would follow the treatment in the article and also check out the prevention. It would be a bacterial issue.

Thanks for your reply. Does not really look like those pics and do not think the ulcerative area (which is partially white still) is that deep. I would say I would get a pic but have never emailed one, as dumb as that sounds. I have restarted the Furan 2 but since a healthy fish has died very expectantly (black neon tetra) I think I will discontinue the Pimafix. Not scientific, I know, but have never had any issues with the Nitrofurazone. The area is directly in front of the tail but does not look like the Saddleback lesion I had in the other tank.

Sorry about the unexpected death. How about this? Columnaris

While I would use either Furan 2 or Pimafix with Medicated Wonder Shells, I would not combine Pimafix and Furan 2. The reason is not a known contraindication, rather issues I have observed with water quality. The keyword is "observed" since I have not performed any extensive tests with this combination Carl
