I guess this is considered equipment.
does anyone have experience with the PH Alert? I was looking on Amazon and it didn't seem to get good reviews. Are there any tips on them or a certain way to use it that maybe they didn't do?
The ammonia alert seems to be good to go, but I already have a liquid kit for that.

I am using the PH Alert and it does move slightly in color through the day because I inject CO2 that changes my PH about .5 in about 4 hours. I don't experience spikes because of my stable environment. What I will do is move it to a new 75 gallon I am setting up to see what it does during the new cycle process... During this time the NH3/NH4 will be unstable so we will see.

PS. I also have a NH3/NH4 alert I will put in there also.

I put the PH indicator in the other tank and it moved from 7.0 in which it came from to 6.5 in the new tank. It took about 30 minutes for this to happen. I placed it back in the original tank and it went back to 7.0 in about the same time so I would say that it works well. The NH3 NH4 indicator moved pretty fast to a alert status because the new tank has not cycled yet and it has a high NH3 NH4 content so it works well too.

The alerts are just alerts. Just to see dramatic change. Not a scientific measurement. Agree with the Amazon comment by Carl.

Ok, I might have to pick one up then. What are the NH3/NH4 alerts? I haven't seen them anywhere.

That alert just measure NH3. That's the benefit. Don't have to worry about false NH4 readings.
