Carl, as per our previous discussions on my 65 gallon goldfish tank, I will be tearing out the filter pipes and replacing the substrate. I will be keeping the fish in a rubbermaid plastic container with aeration. I'd like to get the fish back into the tank asap but I also know it has to cycle a bit. In your experience, how long would you wait to put them in the tank?

I wouldn't stress it too much.Just put some Prime in and you'll be fine.

As long as a filter that is well establish as per the bio filter is preserved, you should be able to add the fish back in once the tank has settled down. I have done this countless times over the years with no loss of fish and only minimal spikes in ammonia
The use of Prime as Devon noted will help as well

I appreciate the comments. The FX5 and the Tunze Comlines will be preserved to continue after the tank is redone. I've never had an issue with tanks changeovers with my African Frogs but am new to fancy goldfish.... The Sunsun powering the UV sterilizer will be started after a week, giving things time to settle..
