Does anybody have testimonial on using Paradigm foods? I've read through there foods and heck, I would eat it. If you have used it, is it something you use primary or do you switch your foods up(besides treats i.e.- wafers, cucumber)? It seems almost so well balanced that besides the occasional treat that you wouldn't need to switch it up.
Let's hear your thoughts. And if you haven't read about Paradigm foods, you can find it under the sponsors section.

It's what I use in my tank and really the only thing besides blood worms as a treat. It has a good amount of spirulina too, which is important for immunity. From what I know from Carl and hour(s) long conversations I've had with the creator of the food, it some of the best food in the world for fish. There's really nothing better. And it's the same price as the junk foods!
If it came down to it too, I would eat it...
The smell of the food is really strong, which really attracts the fish. It gets them really active. It comes in chuncks, but you can break up it depending on what kind of fish you are feeding.

Great! Thanks, Devon. How is the shelf life? I notice it comes in a foil pack so it must be fresh.

Great! Thanks, Devon. How is the shelf life? I notice it comes in a foil pack so it must be fresh. It stays fresh for a pretty long time. Just depends on many fish your feeding. For me, I froze half the bag when I got it. Used the one half and got the second half out when I needed. 1 bag has lasted me like 6 months for 40 gals worth of fish.

I bought two bags of Paradigm Omnivore a few months ago. I like it but I'm still struggling with how to feed it. It comes in large hunks. If I crush it, it becomes too find and most of it ends up on the bottom in pieces so small the bigger fish ignore it. If I don't crush it, the bigger fish eat it all and the smaller fish get nothing.
Overall, I still had better results with Spirulina 20 due to the fact that it comes in flakes.

The Spirulina 20 is still an excellent food, and one many of my experiments prior to Paradigm proved superior to all others tested. It is noteworthy that this has been sold under different brands, including its earliest incarnations as "Green Flake Plus" by Aquatronics which was the leader in aquarium research before being being allegedly put out of business by aggressive retailers such as Dr. F & S BTW, I use "allegedly" because while I trust my source, Rick form Quality Pets (a wholesaler of pet products), I cannot confirm this either since he is not longer available since the company he ran, Quality Pets was also put out of business in part by actions of Dr. F & S. Another source from inside the industry has said similar, but does not want to go on record with his name.Carl

I now have a real fine food by breaking it up with a hammer and a bag full of good size chunks. The fine stuff I let float at the surface and some fish come up to feed on it. I also put a good size chunk in for my pleco/bottom feeders. Also, maybe some pea size chunks, which float in the middle for the guys who don't want to come to the surface. I stopped feeding Spirulina all together, because Paradigm has a good amount of it. Just feeding Paradigm gives me a more complete diet for my fish, which just feeding Spirulina can lack.

I don't see how you're getting pea-sized chunks that stay suspended in the water column.
For me, anything larger than dust sinks almost instantly. My angels are used to eating at or near the surface so they are confused when there's nothing for them more substantial than powder.

For me, I break it into crumbles, generally smaller than pea size, but definitely not dust, then add it to a cup of water and pour in after a few seconds. This does NOT float for me, but does not sink quickly either. My Parrot Cichlid seems to like the "chase" I can definitely see where a fish that will not chase the food, but prefer to only eat off the surface can have some problems. Carl

Carl, any idea on when you will restock with Paradigm Omnivore food? Hopefully all is well over at Paradigm. I had to settle for Spirulina 20 which appears to be the next best thing. Right now I have granules and I grind them between my fingers and let them soak and the dust swells to a perfect size.

We tried to place an order over 5 weeks ago, but due to family issues and taking on more stores than they could handle, it kind of left us with nothing to sell. Carl

My Oscars didn't like it at first but they do once in a while. My cichlids love it, and my plecos love it I think it's a win win! I actually just ordered it again. I break it up just a little and the fish just pick at it until it's gone.

While I have tried Paradigm foods with Oscars, I have noticed these fish for all their voracious appetites, can be rather fickle at times in what they will and will not eat.
