I noticed today when I was getting ready to check my GH values, that somehow the pre-filter got knocked loose from the Rio 1000. I am assuming that it happened yesterday when I used the Quick Vac.
When I went to replace the pre-filter, I noticed that one of my cories was caught in it. When I pulled him out, there was the tip of another cory showing from the tube. Both were dead. All 7 were alive yesterday, but I am only counting 3 today. Usually when I place the feeding clip, with a piece of Seaweed Salad in it, into the tank, within a short while there are 3 cories on it almost constantly. Today none showed up. Is there a possibility that there may be more, deeper inside the Rio (seeing as how I've only seen 3 alive so far)? How do you suggest I go about getting them out?
As a side note, because of this (and the fact that the airline came off of the check valve, causing the Hydro Sponge to be with out an air supply for an unknown amount of time) I did a "full" battery of tests on both tanks. The last readings (on 9/28), compared to the present ones (earlier today) for the 10G: pH: 7.8/7.6; KH: 4 degrees both times; GH: 30/22 degrees; Nirtate: 8/7; Phos: ~1mg/l both times; Ammonia: "0"/ ~0.125; Nitrite: 0 both times. For the 55G: pH: 7.8/7.5; KH: 4.25/4 degrees; GH: 26.5/23.5 degrees; Nitrate:~17/~14; Phos: 0.025/0.05mg/l; Ammonia: "0"/~0.125; Nitrite: 0 both times. I didn't test the oxygen level (no distress seen), or the copper or Iron levels. Carl, do you see any warning signs here?

PS There was a big gap between when I started to write this, and when I finished, because I was going to post a couple pix, but couldn't find the smaller ones. I looked through the camera--hadn't deleted anything yet--but I guess I never made smaller copies of, the one in particular, that I wanted to post. So, I have to go back and "play with the camera" some more, then upload them onto the computer.
