Hello
i was thinking of supplementing my 2x39 watt t5s with 2 grobeams but how thick does the aquarium hood need to be? I've got the sort of hood that comes in three sections it's very flexible and thin. It is 4mm thick black plastic feel, I doubt it's wood, mostly likely chipboard or sheer plastic?
so could the grobeam still be mounted on these sections or would it split from the weight or if I screw the fixture in?
if it's any help it's the aqua one eurostyle 100 aquarium.
Thankyou!

I don't think 4mm plastic is going to hold them. I have mine mounted directly to the hood but mine is 3/4" veneered press board...

I don't know what material mine is to be honest but nonetheless it's only 4mm, only the light ballast is solid. I think I'll have to get a glass lid made for any sort of lighting options.
thanks so much I appreciate it, I've been close to buying the unit I'm glad I held back.

Can you post a pic of your setup? There are tons of different hanging options - perhaps if we can see the kind of setup you have, we can make some recommendations...
