THEY ARE IN A COMMUNITY TANK, ARE THEY GOING TO SURVIVE? WILL MY OTHER FISH EAT THEM OR WILL THE ANGELS HURT THE OTHERS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE FISH DO THIS BEFORE, THEY RUB THEIR STOMACHS ON THE EGGS. WHAT IS THAT FOR?

I am assuming these are a pair.
The male will rub the eggs initially to deposit sperm
Later, both fish rub the eggs to aerate and keep clean so as to prevent egg fungus, or so this is my theory from observing my angels and other cichlids, since those who do not do this seem to always lose their eggs to fungus.
As for the community tank, this is tough, because other fish will attempt to eat the eggs, and I have seen stressed out parents finally abandon their eggs.
If this is a way to partition the angels and their eggs from the rest of the tank, I would do this.

well it's to late, I woke up this morning and the eggs were all gone! I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do, I have had them for a while and this was the first time I had seen this. I guess next time I will try to seperate them from the rest. Dang I was hoping for some babies, I have an algea eater that is big I figured he was the colprit. they were keeping the others at bay pretty well. but I didnt think they could keep him away. I probably should have kept the light on. he doesnt go to far from his hide out place with it on.

Sorry to read this Sherry But if it is any consolation, it was rare when I was able to react in time with angels that laid eggs in my community tanks Carl

My angels lay eggs about every 2 months. I have a community tank but the only fish I have actually OBSERVED eating the eggs are the angels themselves. And as Carl said, it's nearly impossible to react fast enough. My eggs are usually completely gone in less than 20 minutes...

I noticed they were only eating the ones that fell off as they rubbed against them. The next morning when i woke up and turned the light on. the angels kept going back to the filter as to look for them. it was kinda sad.

Sorry to hear that about the eggs getting eaten. On the bright side, at least you got to witness your angels spawning (they are absolutely beautiful btw!) and being good parents. Hopefully you will be lucky if they spawn again and get to raise some baby angels. I know what you mean though with the disappointment. Back when I bred fish, I felt the same when my betta fry didn't make it. Renee

Just get a few live bearers. They will cure you of ever wanting to breed fish again!
