I'm looking at selling my 55G and upgrading to something MUCH bigger.
I'm curious if anyone has any opinions on the following comparison, whether it's about what would look better, what would be easier to setup and maintain, or anything else you can think of.
If given the choice, would you prefer:
1) A 120G tall, 48x24x25 or 2) A 125G long, 72x18x23

I personally much prefer the the longer aquarium.
Here are the reasons: *More surface area allows for more gas exchange and bio load *Fish generally swim horizontally and thus more habitat space including the bottom *Better planted aquarium *Easier maintenance and better filtration options.

I'm gonna do the 125G. Now I just have to figure out where to get one - none of the big online retailers carry anything that size.

Craig's list has more local sellers of items like this which otherwise are nearly impossible to ship economically and/or safely. I would also check with local retailers, most can order anything if they have a good relationship with an aquarium builder. Carl

Yeah, I'm just going to shop around. I'll probably need a cabinet too, which is going to drive up the price.
After that, I need to consider more lighting (probably just supplement my LED tiles with 6500K screw-in CFL since I can build that myself), more filtration, and a bigger heater.
