Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I lost one of my goldies that I've had for 6 years. Had all three of these goldies since they were feeder fish, about an inch and a half long, and before he died he was about 6-7 inches long, which was not my largest of the three who is around 8-9 inches
I had issues with bloating with him a couple times in the last year, and when I came back from my trip I noticed that he had ripped his tail up pretty good, so I treated the tank with antibiotics since the fan tail was showing signs of infection too. It all looked cleared up and his tail was healing nicely after a week of treatment.
A couple days ago he started having swimming problems. tipping nose over tail. I have this problem alot with my fancy so I figuring it was just constipation and bloating. I put him aside in a medicated shallow bath, since he refused to eat the peas and was lethargic and would just let himself flip upside down. After a day he looked alot worse, very very very swollen and last night when I went to check on him, he had a large bowl movement that consisted only of clear casing and dark blood....so I knew that it was a bad sign. I did everything I could to make him comfortable, giving him a plant to hide under and a smooth weighted glass bowl for him to lean against so he could stay upright
He passed away before I got up this morning. I'll miss him a lot, it's going to be weird after six years to see him go.
The other two goldies are very depressed since I took him out, I had the container he was in beside the tank and they both would just sit beside it and not swim around or move cept to eat. When I took him out this morning and packaged him up they were watching me, and they both looked horribly upset, I don't think Ive ever seen fish do that before.
Anyways, just thought I'd update you guys. I had talked to Renee about what she did for her bloating fish was but it was too little too late.
