I have been upgrading everything in my tanks- real instead of fake plants, better lighting, and I am going to start using co2 systems. I have 5 tanks (a 10, 2 20's, a deep 44 and a 55). I plan on trying a couple different kinds, seeing what I like and using that kind for all my tanks. I have been reading a lot on what I need, and one thing I don't know where to find is the valve that can turn the co2 tank valve on/off. If someone can lead me to one, that would be great. It seems the co2 tank methods are the best...a lot more money, though....I was looking at this set up: www.bigalspets.com/Green-NRG-Advantage-system-Adaptors/dp/B001J2862WCan anyone give me a review on it, or tell me what you use that works awesome? I have also been considering a diy method....but I know noone in real life that uses anything like this, so am kind of on my own to create it, and to be honest, am not very good at such things, lol. A complete system in a box might be better for me, at least til I understand it better. Maybe something simpler like this: www.freshwateraquariumplants.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=FAP/PROD/CEDFP/RSCO2BGThanks for all help and advice! (and I did read Carl's articles, they are where I have learned many things in the last few months!)

I am familiar with the Hydor System (a friend is currently testing these in his maintenance business, but the review is not in yet) I am not familiar with the Red Sea CO2 system I and another few friends are currently using a DIY Diffuser that works awesome, but with different generator methods. I & another friend (Misti) are using fizz tabs with this while another is using yeast and yet another is using pressurized CO2. But we all have in common the CO2 diffuser method shown here: DIY CO2 Reactor, Diffuser; Using Sponge Pre-Filter & Pump Carl

The Red Sea system I believe uses yeast, which means it's just a measured (and more expensive) version of the DIY generation method.
With the experience I now have, I would say that anything short of a pressurize system is probably going to be more headache than it's worth, but that's just my personal opinion.
If I ever decide to give it a go again, I'm going to do inline diffusion...

I concur, although I have used many different systems, I prefer pressurized, at least for the generation side of the equation. This is where the Hydor may be good and why I wish the very simply and inexpensive Sanders system were still available (although it may someday be available again)

ok, thanks...I am going to jump in headfirst, and getting the full pressurized system. Going to go pick up my tanks in a few days, and the rest of the stuff is in the mail! Hopefully everything goes well Can't wait to get it going, and thanks for your opinions.

Best of luck with your CO2 adventure. I agree with Carl and parker002. The yeast method works ok for a while, but it can be a pain. I try it on and off and don't really notice much of a difference without or without it. I may try pressurized someday.
Let us know how it goes for you!

I have one of my tanks set up with the co2 now, am waiting for another bubble counter to arrive, then I will set up my tanks in the other room Just curious- how many bps do you use for your tanks? I know it depends on many factors, just have NO idea what is a good starting point. First day, I did 1 every other second, figured I will raise it a bit each day as to aclimate everything. Today, it's at 1 per second. I have a drop checker, but made my own liquid for it, so not sure how accurate it is....but the liquid is still blue- (it does turn green when I turn the co2 on high and have it right over the diffuser, lol, so it works somewhat!!). Kinda fun doing something else new with my tanks, if you could just let me know your bps it would be much appreciated

I personally use 2 BPS, monitor my growth according to my goals, keep my ferts and water changes steady. I use Cal Aqua Labs checkers...while expensive they've been good to me. I've since moved on to controllers with probes but a simple drop checker is a great backup...
