Hey guys, My goldies just keep getting bigger and bigger and they are starting to get overcrowded in their 30 gallon tank currently. There is only three of them in there, but my largest one has grown to be nearly 7 inches now!!! Either way, I would love to upgrade to a 50ish gal tank for them but I am currently 100% broke until I can find a summer job and my student loan -hopefully- goes through this year. Does anyone know of any reaaaaallly good deals on tank set ups?

I know Craig's List is popular, however I have not used it (I also heard some bad things as well) I do not know if yard sales are popular in your area, but they are here in Southern Oregon and this may be a way to pick up a nice used tank. Even if the tank is in poor shape as per seals/seams, this is quite easily fixed with a little time. See this article: Aquarium Tank RepairCarl

I actually got a used aquarium off craigslist.
It was $70 for a used 40 gallon that came with a stand and light. However, the seller had left it in the sun and I had to do a major cleaning on it to remove dirt. As well, I resealed it because some of the silicone as peeling (I think it was better though before I resealed it myself). Luckily it had no cracks or other issues.
The story aside, craigslist sells aquariums for very cheap but you should make sure that the tank is in good condition and if the seller mentions cracks or damage, don't get it. Also, try to get an aquarium from a buyer that posts a picture of it. That way you will know what you're getting.
I personally think craigslist is a good source to get aquariums if you are cautious.
Hope that helps!
