I got an idea when I added some regular wondershells to my aquariums yesterday.
WhenI added them, at first my fish swam after them as they sank to the bottom thinking they were food and nibbled at them a bit before they realized they didn't taste good. So I was thinking, to help my fish get even more calcium and other minerals from the wondershells I drop in the tank, what if I rubbed some spirulina onto the wondershells before I dropped them in? My fish (aside from my bettas) loev spirulin and I think if I did that the fish would nibble on the wondershells so they would more directly ingest the minerals in the wondershell.
Does that sound like a good idea to you guys and would the fish likely nibble on the wondershells if I did that? Just curious. Thanks.

I'll do that next time I put chunks on regular wondershell in. I think they will try to eat it. If they taste spirulina on it! Thanks for teh advice!

As Bill (bikeguy stated, I certainly see no harm in trying this) One advantage to ingestion of calcium and other trace elements s that freshwater fish do not drink the water around them like marine fish, as freshwater fish absorb the water around them which does not allow as much absorption of minerals. A Wonder Shell is also useful if an Aquarium Reverse Osmosis Filter is used for fish such as Discus. See: Aquarum Answers, Do Fish DrinkCarl
