yup there is. get the fish out of there. copper is an incredible cure. but it is also extremely deadly if given in wrong doses. fish out....copper in. also....get a copper testing kit. it is like 5 or 6$. copper will stay in the water a long time and if more than one dose is needed you dont want an OD situation

I have an idea where you can put the fish while you do the copper treatment John. You know how you made a pond of out a horse trough last year? Clean another horse trough out and put the fish in there. Would that work for you while you treat the tank with copper?

John (murdock), I agree with Bill's (bikeguy's) points about the use of copper, as copper basically works by poisoning the "problem" more than the fish. However in FW use I have not had too much problem using Aquarisol (which is a copper sulfate product) with snails present along with even sensitive fish, rarely encountering problems. The key is to start with a clean aquarium with low amounts of bio mulm, then follow the directions as per the amount of Aquarisol added, keeping in mind that some of this will be absorbed by decor, etc, which means more will need to be added. I will also add more Aquarisol for water changes which are key as well since any dying snails can raise the bio load and poison the tank. This all said, a copper test kit is always helpful (so as to maintain .25 ppm), but I think you can get by with just the copper for your use/tank. Carl

The only concern I have here is the dead/decaying snails. I have heard that this will cause all kinds of problems with the tank...
John...can you trade the Clown in for a new one?
