I updated my Aquarium Answers article dealing with the use of the correct silicone and repair of aquariums (including hinges, cracks, old silicone) I added a couple of new pictures dealing with determining the "health" of the aquarium joint. Here is a thumbnail picture of this (the larger picture is found on the article) For the full article (including more pictures), please follow this link: Aquarium Answers; What Silicone to use and what not to use, Aquarium Repair, Aquarium constructionCarl

Thanks for the update Carl. I looked at the pictures, read your article and watched your demo. But I am still confused on what you are talking about when you say the "silcone where the two glass panels meet." Is it the silicone you can feel when you run your finger where the glass pieces meet on the outside of the aquarium? I'm afraid I am still not following you. Sorry about that.

I think you understand now based on your phone call. This is the silicone (that often appears green) between the plates that you can see by looking through the corners of your tank glass, not the silicone inside the corner of the tank that can be easily felt by moving your fingers over.

Thanks for your time to explain this to me Carl. I'm glad I understand now. I am very very relieved that my tank is in good shape. Unfilling it and scraping off all the sealant would have been a big hassle. Thank you for your help.
