CD = Conservation Dependent: (i.e., the species is part of a conservation program, which, if ended, would result in the fish being reclassified as Threatened within 5 years.)

CP = Conservation Priority: Species suitable for Breeder Award Programs. (Dr. Paul V. Loiselle)

CR = Critically Endangered: A species facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild in the immediate future (same as EE used by de Rham, & Nourissat)

EN = Endangered: Species facing a very high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future. (Includes species on the ALA list (2) shown as Threatened.)

EW = Extinct in the Wild: Known only to survive in cultivation, in captivity or as a naturalized population (or populations) well outside the past range.

EX = Extinct: There is no reasonable doubt that the last individual has died.

Betta miniopinna

This betta is endemic to Indonesia and has been redlisted as threatened. These little Bettas only get to be about 1.5" and can actually be housed as a pair in as little as a 5 gallon tank. They like most other Bettas like a soft more acidic water.

When you say "as a pair", do you mean a male and female? I take it these are less agressive than their domesticated counterparts providing you are talking about a similar fish to the common bettas found as pets in stores.

These are different then the common Bettas. I obviously have not kept these but the info I found on them did say, yes these may be kept as a male/female pair.

So they must be less agressive than domesticated bettas then. I think I will look them up to see how different they look from petstore bettas as well.

I just looked at pictures of some Betta miniopinna and they do look quite a bit like domestic female bettas. Very beautiful fish as well.
