I have a betta fry I have been feeding BBS for about a month nw supplemented by Hikari Micro pellets when I have to rehatch brine shrimp. I also do complete water changes everyday for it. But my problem is it is barely growing. i don't see how this can be. I am feeding it the right foods plus it is getting necessary water changes. I have the fry in a 1 gallon conatiner floating in tank with the temperature set to 81 F. It also has a bubbler. What am I doing wrong?

Likely you are doing nothing wrong as this may be a genetic weakness (I have seen this MANY times before and there is little you can do for this other than the care you are already performing. I will ask what your water parameters are, such as ammonia, KH, GH, nitrates, etc.? Carl

There's nothing I can see wrong other than the KH and GH being a little low. My readinsg are:
Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 5 or less PH: 7.4 GH: 110 KH: 80
This fry is either a 3rd or second generation fish. It's father Critique was born in my home but I'm not so sure about the mother. She was either a green female from my first spawn or my white female Dot I got from Petsmart.

I honestly did not expect to see any problems with your water parameters, which other than a little low GH are not bad.
I have to make the guess that this is a genetic problem, based on the information at hand.

Well, this is the only survivor of this brood. It should technically be the healthiest but then again, I have a sole survivor of a tank with saprolegnia and it is male and is the size of a small female at 7 months! It also has impaired vision, slightly odd shaped pectoral fins, a very short snout, possible swim bladder problems, and a mutated vent and mouth. This was the fish I spent abou 24 hours over a week doing research trying to save several months back after the rest of its siblings died. Hard work doesn't always pay off. I just hoep I can find it a good home when it's a little bigger.

Yep, now comes the challenge of who I can give it to that knows a bit about fish so it is kept healthy since it is so mutated and seems to have some special needs. On the other hand, I'll have to fiond someone who WILL take it. Even a beginner fishkeeper who is somehwat familar with bettas will think it is strange let alone even think it is a betta.
