___It looks like I have some sort of aphids on plants which can reach the aquarium surface, like vallisneria. They are all over the plants reaching the surface. Any suggestions as to getting rid of them?

Hello Tfk! If possible, could you please reupload the image you had attached or use another host such as imgur so we can see exactly what you're talking about please?

An image search seems to show these as Aphids www.nurserymag.com/article/aphids-december-2022/As per such a problem with pond plants, I would suggest dusting the plant leaves with diatomaceous earth Of course you could also capture a lot of lady bugs and set them loose in your home near the aquarium

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately this is on an indoor 70 gal tank so dusting is not a great option.

I have dusted indoor plants many times, this is why the suggestion of diatomaceous earth as it is rather inert and will not cause any issues, even if the dusting goes awry, as it is easily vacuumed up

Hi there,
Are they in a area with little to no flow? Many times extra flow or splashing will help prevent mites, aphids, etc. You may have to manually remove them first then add the extra flow or you can add the flow and rinse the plants and they will become fish food.
Let us know how it goes.
