Hello, I had read in one of your articles about wondershells removing the blue out of the methylene blue? Don't remember where that was. I have a fish in a hospital tank that I was treating with MB, wondershells, and ammonia chips in a HOB filter. The color would disappear a few hours after putting it in. Is it the wondershells or ammonia chips? Or both? And if it removes the color, is it removing all the "treatment" part of the medicine as well?
-Thankyou, Nicole.

Sorry for the slow reply, I have been out on vacation for two weeks and I guess Devon forgot to check in.
The answer is BOTH, but with the Wonder shell, they will slowly leach it back in,
Also it is normal in a tank with gravel and decor to absorb all MB in 12-24 hours, while in an aquarium with water only and only aerations it will last for days

Thanks Carl. It's just a hospital tank. No gravel or decorations. So it was the ammonia chips and the shells. Next time I have to treat should I use extra treatments to keep the "blue" in the tank?
-Thanks, Nicole.

In bare tanks I usually need to add little MB, but even without Ammochips and AAP Wonder Shells I still have to add a small amount of Methylene Blue to keep up the therapeutic amount desired, The amount to add is where the question lies, and I have no clear answer as it can vary. This said, MB is difficult to over dose, especially ina tank with no clear bio filter, so even if you guess on the high side, your should be fine.
