Anyone know where I can get Christmas decor for my tanks??? lol I'm semi kidding, though I think it'd be awesome to find something Christmas wise to put in my 75g for this month. I'm hosting our local fish club's Christmas party this year and I know they'd get a kick out of that:) maybe I'll jsut get some red and green "betta crystals" those silly things they sell at walmart for the dumb betta bowls. sprinkle those around on the bottom a bit...lol I know silly:)

What about temporarily replacing your tank background with festive wrapping paper? Also, I'm pretty sure you could use any kind of polyresin Christmas decoration in the tank. Just as long as it's hollow so it won't sink. Just a thought. Oooooo! Also check out glazed ceramic decorations! The stores should be full of them right now.

lol didn't think of that, I'll keep away from those. And great idea about the bg! I'll see if I can do that. My 75 is right up against the wall (have the filter on the side) So a thing of wrapping paper would work great I think. awesome idea! The other tanks I have I painted the bg, so only the big one will work. I'll have to get pics of it when I'm done:) Thanks for the ideas!

I think a plaster sleigh w/ reindeer and Santa would be awesome! or an angel or a snowman.....even a candle or a star! have to respect all - a nativity scene - they make tons of stuff!

Okay, that's another thing I've always wondered, but never tried as I wasn't sure what the answer is. Would floating candles be safe in a tank? My 75 is pretty much open and if I slowed the filter current down for the night the candles would just float all around nicely. But I wasn't sure if there was anything in the candle that would leach into the water and hurt my fish.

I would be careful about that because a lot of candles have oils in them that could leach out. I would definitely stay away from anything that is scented because those definitely have oils in them. I would buy the candles way ahead of time and float them in a container of water for a while, maybe even overnight and them look really carefully to make sure there is no oil or other stuff. As long as they are pure wax they shouldn't give anything off. I'd especially try to get something made from beeswax.
