Hello, I am sorry to add to the many people why write and ask for help. I have read and read your articles. But unable to guess at what's going on with pearl gourami. Got 2 of them about 6 months ago (young, smallish) one in other tank doing very well. This tank, 36 gal bowfront has all water parameters wnl. No nh3, no3 and no3 0, pH 7, GH 180 and kH about 100. All other fish appear healthy..platies, swords and 5 bloodfins. No aggression. But this pearl has stopped eating for about a week. No ich visible, no saddleback lesions. PWC at least weekly. Using Res-Q, medicated WS. And beyond that I have no idea what to do. Have tried multiple foods, even with garlic. Any ideas?

Maybe take a read and see if it matches. www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2007/03/trematodes-and-nematodes-in-fish.html

Aside from getting thinner I haven't seen any symptoms so I guess I will try general cure (but if not eating not sure it will help.). I admire your knowledge in this difficult field considering you have no bloodwork or x-rays to help you, as we did in Veterinary medicine. Maybe someday aquatic medicine will be easier.

It's a big challenge, we're just educately guessing. You would need microscope and a scape to know more

Thank you for your reply. My gourami is only eating a few flakes and brine shrimp. Do you think at this point I should use spectrogram even though there are no symptoms? I am out of ideas.

Spectrogram would not be called for in this case. I would suggest trying AAP Naladin, but other than this, optimum water parameters (do not over use Medicated Wonder Shells either) www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquatronics.html#naladixic

Ohh..I went ahead and started spectrogram cuz was afraid of losing fish. . Guess I will finish last dose and use Naladin if things don't improve. Thank you for your thoughts. He is eating slightly better
