Most definitely 24/7 to obtain all the benefits of UV Sterilization, including Redox balance. Not sure who might say otherwise that has ANY knowledge of aquarium UV Sterilization (I admit I am curious who would make such an inaccurate statement) Cycling a UV Sterilizer on & off also shortens the lifespan of the lamp and the UV ballast Reference: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/AquariumUVSterilization.html

welcome!
Carl gave a good answer. 24/7 is best and replacing lamps best 6mo to 12mo is needed also.

Thanks a lot for both of you, another question, is there any problem if I connect the water IN in the OUT, that is because im planning to conect the uv to the overflow and it would be easier to conect it in the outlet, is there any problem?

I am not totally clear as to your question. If I understand it correctly, an inline UV is non directional and it does not matter which side the water enters and then exits. As for plumbing it, it should always be on the outlet side with pre-filtration

Hi Devon and Carl my UV it a Vecton 600, as you can see in this model has two conectors for the hose or plumbing, and on its Operation Manual says that the conector from the bottom it is for water going IN and the one of the top it is for the water going OUT, my question is that in your experience do you think it will be any problem if i connect in the IN the OUT and in the OUT the IN, for installing it would be better for me and to avoid too many turns for the water hose.
Thanks a lot, i tried to upload an image but i think it is not alowed

Right, it won't matter.
