good afternoon all. just a lil update in the world of fish farming. my boss had a meeting with me the other day and asked me how i would filter a 25 000 gallon holding tank and keep the water cold without the added expense of the refrideration unit.
I told him i`d run a large pump in the pond (which is fed by an underground stream) and another pump in the tank. he said that was a great idea and that it saves the added expense of a large filter and refrideration unit. the pond is frozen as well. anyways, he spent the day yesterday making this happen and called me in for another meeting. he told me this is my tank to raise the fish how i will. it is a test for when we get into full blown breeding mode i am sure, but i am happy to have the chance to prove myself. anyways, my new tank is stalked with "grass carp" which i know very little about except they like water around 40-50 degrees. i have also heard this fish gets large....very large. up to 100 pounds apparently isnt uncommon.
anyways....if any of you have any ideas on how i can make a success of this...i will listen to any and all comments.

Great idea Bill As for me, I think you will need to be the teacher here, I worked many different size filtration systems (ponds included), but my knowledge of raising these fish is 0 Carl

I'm honestly not sure. My gues is you could find something if you looked up how zoos keep fish in such large tanks, say over 10,000 gallons. But again, this is just a guess.
