I came here looking for a knowledgeable and research based forum with quality moderators and good people- and I think I'm in the right place!
I am a regular on the AAP site and have read all Carl S.'s articles- wich have changed the way I keep fish for life! I have spent the past year on another forum working hard to help and learn all I could, but have been very unhappy with the way memebers treat one another and moderators play favorites (not to mention the poor info that was passed around like an unwanted fruit cake).
My niche, you could say, is freshwater fish disease (focusing on bettas and Fw puffers)! I am so excited to be a part of a forum with such an impressive cast, thanks for your time!

Sounds like a great new member!
Welcome welcome welcome!
We've all had these experiences in other forums. I think you'll find this is great place for others to chat about the hobby.

Welcome to Everything Aquatic. Please feel free to assist others too with suggestions when they come up (we tend to have many more "lurkers" who simply rad without posting and slip away according to our stats) Carl

Welcome Leah... My hobby was changed as well by Carl's articles and I had a lot of trouble with other forums too. This is the place to be.... for right information.

Thank you all for the kind words, I love it here. At my last forum I would read through archived posts as well as recent threads and constantly be slapping my head, hoping someone hadn't found these threads searching for quick answers- and just ran with it, as we know many new fish keepers do!
My other half asked me yesterday how the new forum was was treating me, and I came to this conclusion: Even though i feel slightly in over my head at times (when reading topics far outside my knowledge base, like Reef tanks) I love that I learn something new from every question and post I read. Anything that starts to feel out of my grasp has thorough, in depth articles that I can reference to fill in my knowledge gaps, bridging advice and science. Wich is why I fell in love with AAP in the 1st place.
It's funny, I think another of my old forum members moved over here too lol I sent him a link to the "fish bible" (a week or so before I deserted) -the 4 part medicine articles, and he hasn't been back to that forum since. I am about 94% sure him finding EA is why he never came back, especially bc he used to be on 24/7! That would be awesome I won't lie, because I send anyone who will listen to AAP and Carl's info, and now to the Everything Aquatic Forum!
