Last night it was 9:30 pm and I a bubbler was humming too loud in my bedroom so I went to adjust it before going back to bed. Then I noticed that the area around my 10 gallon with Puon and Oranda in it was wet. Water seemed to be collecting around the bottom black frame that helps hold the glass in place. I checked all around the black frame and the whole area around it was wet. I told my mom and waited to see if more water appeared to verify the leak. more water came from the top part of the black frame where the tank meets the glass. I put Puon and Oranda in the neigbhoring 10 with Foneme and Alden and emptied the tank as much as I could to slow the leaking so there would be less pressure on the bottom of the tank. I took everything out of the tank tonight and emptied it the rest fo the way out. The fish are fine and the tank is in my bathroom with only gravel. I will be looking for any signs of damage that may have caused it tomorrow. This is very weird in my opinion. I'm think that there may have been a crack or somehow the frame was slowly getting detached from the tanka nd that caused this but I will wait to see until tomorrow.

the air pump was humming....hmmmmm. maybe it got turned up to a higher pressure if it is adjustable. tanks normally don`t just start leaking like that. could the bubbles have been splashing water onto the frame causing it to drip?

No, the bubbler is partly broken or something so it always make sa lot of noise. I put books on top of it to keep it quiet. I didn't really check the top of the frame for water but it looked like the water was coming out of the bottom. All around the tank it was really wet. unless I overfilled the tank (I don't think I did), it was leaking. I've had that tank for almost 5 years. It was my first 10 gallon and I did 2 or 3 complete water chnages in the first two years I've had it. I'm not sure what is causing it but I will investigatee once the gravel is removed. I will be testing it by filling it an inch with water to be asolutely sure it was the frame.
Thanks for the reply by the way Bill.

if it was filled too high.....even the water movement will send the water over the top and may flow and appear to be leaking from the bottom. anyways.....once agaain do the toilet paper trick. i would do it outside in the carport if ya can.....

I just remembered today that whne it was leaking, it was not filled too high.
I also checked the 10 today, no damage other than mild scratches from age. It must be the tank wasn't selaed high enough on the inside to prevent leaking on the frame, either that or I'm losing it.

Well it appears something fishy is going on, very fishy. The other 10 started gettoing water around the bottom frame too!!! I'm starting to think it may be some kind of very unusual case of condensation due to the change in whether ormaybe becuase there's damp string holding a conatiner in place for the fish to more easily eat from. I'm waiting ad seeing. Meanwhile, the dresser is wet and I have had to lay clothes around it. i am just going top see how it goes...

Ok, I'm pretty sure I know what is causing this. I have a few pieces of string (non-toxic to fish) extending into the tank to hold a feeding container in place and then taped to the side of the tank so my fish that have problems eating (Puon and Oranda) can easily access food and not take a million years to try to get it. Anyway, the string is damp, (I got it in the water when I put in that conainer for them) and it's been dripping a lot. Then when the water collects on the frame of the tank, it spills over and circles around if there's enough to make it look like the whole area around the frame is leaking. The reason why I think it happened to both tanks is I had string on the original one that leaked and then I put it on the other when I transfered the 2 fish to it from the other I thought was leaking.
So, if I am indeed right on this, all I have to do is make sure the string does not drip over the side. Other than this being really upsetting at first, having a damp dresser, and pointlessly moving 2 fish, everything should be ok.
I'll write here again if anything else goes wrong with this. Thanks for the support guys.
