When I contacted the seller of the Spectrogram product sold on Ebay I wrote
"Interested in this product but want to know the expiration date of medication. Didn't this company (Aquatronics) go out of business a many years ago? How do you still have this products?" Seller wrote back:
"No we are Aquatronics and Filtronics. Since 1968. Private sellers now. Expiration date of 2019 Longer if in a cool dry place."
Are they for real?

I am quite familiar with this company from trade shows and even recently bought out a few products that were still listed on eBay that are not as date sensitive, however by 2004 they were gone. Someone may have now bought out the name, but the only person selling on eBay is in Las Vegas, which is not where the company was before (they were in Oxnard California). Likely this is someone else trying to leech off from my in depth information pages (as happens so often such as with the Wonder Shells), as we have been the only one talking about these products for the last decade Either way the combination I am suggesting of Furan 2 and Kanaplex is excellent and if it does not work it is because either the environment is less than ideal, fish age, genetics, simply the wrong medication for this problem, or all of the above Carl

Thx so much for replying back Carl. I'm going to go ahead and purchase the Spectrogram product from Ebay. The seller has received positive feedback. Will keep the board posted.

OK, the fact is Aquatronics is no longer in business (I am also familiar with this seller, having purchased some products from them). But if you have used the the combination correctly as I have suggested earlier in this forum thread (which I could not find a record of these being purchased), this may not work any better unless other issues are improved too. If you truly want success, you need to follow the advice given in this thread along with these articles: www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Vibrio_Aeromonas.htmlwww.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Disease.htmlCarl

Hi Carl, yes I have poured over & fully read all the medication articles on your website. They are very informative & I have always followed your advice. I did once try combining Kanaplex with Furan2 in my tank but didn't have success with this combo or any other meds I've tried. I've given my tank a good rest now - about 4 weeks of no meds to get my water parameters perfect. After using so many antibiotics my ammonia had spiked a bit & became unstable. Now it's perfect (0) Nitrites & nitrates are 0. GH is good (200+) as well. I use a wonder shell too. I like the idea of the Spectrogram product as the meds are already combined and dosed correctly. Makes things a little easier.
I read a post from another person who had no success using Kanamycin when dosed as directed (every other day for 3 treatments) but when he used daily for 14 days (with daily water changes) his fish responded and got better. I may dose the Spectrogram daily instead of every other day & see how that goes. Also thought of adding some Paragard (Seachem) if that might make the treatment more effective. Will see.

My point is medication is not the full answer. In fact it is a combination of fish baths, feeding, removal of organic material harboring bacteria, level one UV Sterilization and more. Septicemia is a condition, not a specific disease.
As someone who is very familiar with Spectrogram, which is a good product when fresh, there is no difference than the combination of Kanamycin when used together properly (these too can be dosed together). Also remember, when you give your business to others, whether it be medications, Wonder Shells, fish food, while getting help from this forum that I provide for free, this will someday (& quite possibly soon) not be here.

I am aware from all your articles that medication is not the full answer. That's why I made sure to check all my water parameters first (bases on articles I read on your site) to ensure they were all optimal. My tank is pristine. I vacuum once weekly & do weekly water changes as well. I have followed all your recommendations regarding meds, baths, feeding, etc. I did purchase 2 medicated Wonder Shells from your site as you suggested. The only reason I purchased other medications at my local fish store is because my fish are quite sick and wanted the meds as quickly as possible. In regards to my purchase of the Spectrogram product - I'm getting a bit desperate here. I've gone through numerous medications & since this was a product you seemed to like in the past (enough that you put it on your medication page) I thought I'd give it a try. Can't hurt at this point. If you sold it I would've purchased from you. I'm doing the best I can at this point.

I believe the ebay seller is lying Carl got product from them just this last month and it had a 2005 exp date... While the exp is not the real issue here, as things last longer than the date, the guy has to be lying if it's a true Aquatronics product. I'm looking at the product right now with a 2005 date. If the combination Carl suggested has not worked this far, it has to be other factor and likely more medication will not help. I wonder the long term Redox of the tank, since you've only purchased and used two medicated wonder shells. Regular GH boosters are needed long before the disease takes over. Correcting water quality and trying to treat is almost impossible. UV is also very important, but is a preventive as well. *water quality (including Redox) *Use of level one sterilization *Age of fish as well as genetics I'd personally start on more preventives and see if the issue gets worse or better, then consider more treatment. Double down on water changes. Constant minerals, Quality Food (which I don't believe has been talked about), immunity boosters...and adding a UV. I'd get these in order first, then consider more treatment.
