In the "reply" tools at the top here in ProBoards there is an I, this will allow you to italicize. Or simply add the code yourself by adding [ i] [ /i] on each side of the word you want to italicize (please note I added a space to allow this to appear here on the board).
As for netting, this can be damaging to fish as well as simply stressful for some fish. King may simply be used your handling. As a side note, some fish livestock handlers use a form of ladle to scoop out fish.

BTW, how do you italicize a word when you want to emphasize something? I've only done it accidentally before, and don't know what I did to make it happen. Directly above the window you type into are all the buttons for formatting. Font face... font size.. then buttons for the various effects. Hold your cursor over a button for a few seconds and it tells you what it's for. If you're not familiar, to apply styling you type then select the part you want to style and click on the button to do it. update: Sorry Carl, did not see that you had already answered (it may have been on page 2 and I wasn't seeing that)

I looked at King's fins yesterday (I bought a cheap Marineland LED for the quarantine tank, to use whenever I need to get a "good" look at something in there), and it doesn't really look like they have "eroded" any more, but there is a slight scalloping to his tail (it's not uneven or anything, though), and the fins are still outlined in black. I did notice (under the LEDs) that along the outer edge of the red, there is some blue (?I only noticed it now because of the lights), and in the light area in the red in his "crown" it shows up blue as well. [You can see the "crown" area I'm talking about in one of the photos earlier in this thread.]
