Hey guys, I also tried to post in the illness section and was not able to, so I am posting here.
I have figured out that one of my goldies has hemorrhagic septicemia, which makes me very sad because I know the odds, and I have read your article on it carl. I reaaaaally wish I would have caught this earlier I feel really bad for not catching it.
Eitherway:
About a week ago I noticed one of my goldies (regular comets) had a raised bump on his side, it is under the scales and causing just those few scales around it to lift up, with a whitish discharge coming out of the wound. I have had this in one of the goldies about 2 years ago (same fish) and treated then with a combo of metronidazole and kanaplex as suggested by carl I think as well as melafix for an in tank treatment.
I also used twice a day meth. blue baths with salt
So I started this in tank treatment again starting sunday as well as meth baths for the goldie.
But then I noticed another goldie is also sick....and a lot sicker than the first guy.
He has red streaks/veins going through his body and tail. And is extremely lethargic (i actually though he was dead because he was laying in the exact same spot in the tank for over an hour) and these fish are all usually very active. His fins are closed.
So I decided to give him a bath as well today and when I got him into the container for the bath, with the different light/top view I also noticed one side is bumpy and it looks like it is starting to be eaten away
All my water parameters are spot on with the test strip I just checked. I have been a little behind on the water changes with how crazy busy I have been but the water never really got dirty.
So...I am doing the in tank treatment for all the fish since 2/3 are sick and the baths for the two fish.
I have had these goldies since they were less than an inch big and they are both well over 6inches now. I've had them for about 4 years and they are my big babies. So needless to say I want to do everything I possibly can to make them better, even though I realize the one guys odds at this point are pretty low. But if there are any other suggestions I can try or something that might work even better I'd appreciate the ideas.
Thanks guys for all your help this time and all other times.
