The plan for '09 is to start work on Seahorse breeding. When im off from school for winter and get more time im setting up probably a spare 10 gallon with sand, fake plastic vals and some branching rock for seahorses.
Nothing special, kudas or hippocamus kellogi something easy. Hopefully if i did the research right, the fry will need to be raised seperately and fed extremely small food, prehaps try my hand at BBS again.
On the list are the clownfish still. my pairs seem to like eachother for a few months then turn on eachother. But hopefully this will change. Oscalleris pairs and percula pair.
So hopefully i can get some saltwater fish to breed soon.
just a quick little update.

good luck with both species. they are 2 of the few species that redilly breed in captivity. i know you know chris....but for anyone who doesn`t....seahorses can only be kept in a species tank since they are so slow to get food. anything else will get all the food before the SH get close. also.....they really have no natural defense to fight any predetors. btw....great choice on marine breeding species. healthy market for both.

Wow! I've been videos of seahorses breeding and it's incredible. The female releases eggs into the male's pouch and then he looks pregnant. lol Then the fry come out of dad. I've seen many videos of sea horse fry back in the days when i watched lots of nature documentries and it was never ceased to amamze me. You're very lucky bettachris. Maybe I could try breeding sea horses someday. I'm not sure if they're easy to keep. I seem to want to keep a lot of new fish species in the future. XD

Wow! That will be fun! Good luck. I remember reading an article in TFH about seahorses and which types breed relatively easy. If you want me to, I can try to find it and see what tips they have.

Good luck If possible, document (including pics) everything you do. I have bred Seahorses before (mostly inadvertently), and the breeding part is easy. However I have to admit that I have never reared the fry to adult (which is the more difficult part according to my friends that have been successful with this aspect of breeding Seahorses) Carl
