A trip to home depo or any hardware store will bring up items that can be used in an aquarium.
egg crate or light diffusor which can be used in a number of ways. It can be cut to fit an aquarium as a tank divider. Common for large cichlids like holding different flowerhorns in a holding tank.
Flip it horizantally will change it into a frag rack. Simple cut to whatever size your aquarium is and place it on top of cut PVC piping to change the tank into a propagation tank. The frag rack can also be be attached to the wall of the aquarium. Alittle hot glue and suction cups will make it into an instant in tank frag rack.
So the use of egg crate in an aquarium makes it a great tool that is over looked.

Thanks for the post BC!
Once you can provide some pictures, maybe this can be a sticky as well to help others later.

Just curious but what is a frag rack? I've never heard of one.

if you ever go to a petstore that sells saltwater corals, it is a white piece of plastic that has wholes cut out for you to put corals in there, so they dont float all over the aquarium and allows people to see and pick which one they want.
So when i frag my corals, i place them on propagation plugs which is ceramic etc... that looks like a mini table if you will, where it has a small base and large disc on top. So the small base fits right into the wholes of the egg crate or frag rack.

Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like a good thing to use for SW tanks.

Here is a pic of what chris is refering to. One of the things that has recently been learned about the egg crate is that you must clean it first before use in the tank as it comes with a residue from manufacturing that promotes nuisance algae growth. You need to first soak it in vinegar over night and then wash it in bleach rinse well and allow to dry for 12 hours.
