So the milky slime has popped back up in 38g tank. I started back on the Melafix and am also adding Pimafix. In order to add these meds you have to remove the carbon from the filter. When I went to take out the carbon cartridge I saw that white stuff was growing on the bio grid. It looks just like the milky slime that grows on the fish. Can this be where this relapse has come from? Is it possible that Strep is growing in the filter?

Can this be where this relapse has come from? Is it possible that Strep is growing in the filter? My understanding is that Strep is systemic bacterium and grows on a host such as a fish, unlike Aeromonas which can feed on bio waste as well, so I have doubts. As per our phone call, consider the baths as well as a stronger systemic treatment such as Erythromyacin or Tetracycline. or a combination treatment such as Kanaplex and Nitrofurazone (nitrofurazone is especially good for "slime" in my experience and is found in Furan 2). One thing I forgot to mention was to consider a UV Sterilizer when you can afford one, as this would really help with systemic infections. Carl

Thanks Carl, and again, Happy Birthday! As soon as I can I plan on ordering a UV sterilizer, I just can't right now.
