I tried to get a couple of nice pictures of my 10 gallon to show John (and everyone else) my blue platy. She is still very pearly and not a true blue color. More of a purple. She is so HARD to get a picture of, because she's so active and reflective! Here's the best I could do: Here is a shot of the whole tank. You can see the blue girl in the back Here is one of my older platy girls.

She is hard to see, but either way her irradescence is really nice. The tank as a whole looks good with alot of plants. Like the Filter Max Pre-Filter too! Carl

Here's the best I could do: Platys are great little fish, I just saved about a dozen fry, last week, at the store where I work. They come in the bags with the moms when we get fish. Normally they just get dumped into the tanks with the rest of the fish and get eaten, now that I am working there, I will be taking them home.
They go into my guppy tank to grow out and then on to an auction where someone will get a bunch of platys for a good price.
Very nice camera work, BTW. And it DOES look like a larger tank than a 10. John

Good for you 8 for saving the platys! I actually think that is probably how I got all of my platies so cheap. She probably came in with a shipment and a whole lot of other babies, and they just throw the fry in whatever tanks have space and see what happens. I think I paid 50 cents for the 2 orange ones, and the blue one was 18 cents.
I finally got the hang of the prefilter. It used to get so dirty and would make a mess when I took it off. I think part of the problem was the shrimp. They'd sit on that piece of wood and tear little bits of it off looking for food or something and the sponge would get all clogged with little tiny wood pieces. Now that they are gone, it doesn't get nearly as dirty.

great job Steph! am glad people still are interested in platys - I still love them for their tank gentleness and color and ability to adapt to most water conditions - love having fry - they do poop a lot though!
