Thanks, Carl. I'm two years from a much-deserved retirement.

Clown Loaches are for sure my very favourite fish. I love how they lie so still. I have a fit every time I see one lying on its side or back, thinking it is dead. They are so beautiful. I have two that I have had for about 7 years now. How long do Clowns live? Keep up the good work on the aquarium. I love them too, they can live up to 15 years and longer if conditions are right.

Just out of curiosity, have any of you had experiences with the other loaches (weather, skunk, kuhli,...)? I love all the loaches and have found the weather loach to be hilarious at times. They all seem to like hanging around one another.

They all seem to like hanging around one another. I personally have not kept many Weather Loaches, but I have many others and I really find the Khuli Loaches really cool (when you can find them). In fact, part of the reason I like them is that your never know when they will appear in a heavily decorated tank. Carl

Not to be a pest, but there are documented cases of clown loaches that are in public aquariums that are over 45 years old. They are also one of my most favorite fish. I've considered one day setting up a 90g that is dedicated solely to clown and other species of loaches. I just love the little guys.

i have never heard of a clown that old, but it is definatly possible if like 8 said the conditions are kept perfect. there is a fellow in europe somewhere that claims to have bred clowns in captivity....that was huge news in aquaria a few months back.
weather loaches are a very very neat species. they actually do a great job of predicting weather changes. they are extremely sensitive to changes in barometric pressure and go crazy when the weather is about to change. here in alberta canada they go insane often. we have a weather pattern called "chinooks" whick carl and i spoke of yesterday. the changes are drastic with a chinook and the weather loaches predict this at least a day in advance.
