Just found this interesting... I was looking in my 20, which I had just added some floating plant to, and I spotted something white in the plant. After closer inspection, it was the front half of a ghost shrimp. I was afraid I had lost my little friend, but then I saw him moving around nearby. I looked again, and realized: My little friend had molted! I didn't realize he would do this, but I guess that makes sense figuring he's an invertabrate.
That night, I was looking at my indigenous tank, and lo and behold, there was my crayfish, hiding on the opposite side of his cave from his molt. He had been holing himself in more and more over the past week, I just didn't realize the signs. He hasn't eaten the exoskeleton yet, I'll post pictures in the morn if I get time.
Just thought I'd let ya'll know about my newest adventure!

that's really cool Clint! Now you can decieve people into that you have twice as many shrimp. lol
Just remember that they are pretty soft and fragile after they molt so be careful with tnm.

Yeah, the crayfish didn't come out for a while after that... then when he did it was to escape, little crapper. And as for the ghost shrimp, I think that was the last time I saw him. I moved the tank across the room, and he disappeared in the move somehow... ... I loved him too, he was such a survivor. Well, I may get more someday here, so I guess I'll be ok.

I had a small male ghost shrimp in a spawning tank (experiment) with my betta once I had free swimming fry (Im talking a week free-swimming). I acclimated the GS and released him...within 24hrs the darn thing had hunted down and eaten over 100 fry! I had 7 left! I caught him and threw him un-acclimated back into the 55g...the dang thing lived and reproduced with the girls (he was the only male). I was surprised at how hardy he was!
Sorry you lost your guy in the move!
