one of my female guppies gave birth! I diodn't have time to post it earlier. The fry are 3 days old now. My mom and neighbor were shocked to see them. They are so cute and there are at least 10. I assume the rest were eaten plus when I isolated their mom, I don't think she had them all. (She looked a little too fat after giving birth). The fry rigth now are just learning that fingers mean food. They're still a little nervous but starting to trust.
Unfortunately, I've got fuzzy stuff growing in the 2 1/2 they're in. (I tried to spawn bettas in there before so that must be it since this fuzz only shows up in tanks bettas have been in, never with guppies.) Hopefully, it won't kill them like the betta fry. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on tht and keeping the tank very clean. The fry certainly seem healthy.

Keep the tank clean, up your salt to 1 teaspoon per 1 gallon, make sure your mineral levels are good, and hopefully this should not be a problem. If you do feel the need to medicate, try something a little more inert such as Pimafix (however I would even wait on this). Carl

I have tried Pimafix with this fuzzy stuff before. The only thing that seems to elimate this stuff is bleach or soap. I know very well what I am dealing with since this has been a problem with bettas for months and one of the reason I don't breed them anymore. However, since these are guppies and hopefully a bit stronger than my betta fry were, they should be ok. Plus are more interested in eating than betta fry and bigger so they should clean up more uneaten food though I am cleaning as necessary, every day if needed. Thanks Carl. I do not think I will medicate. I know by now how resistent this stuff is. Since I have a good sponge filter in there and I am not adding bettas there it should be ok. ( the bettas seem to carry the stuff yet are not be affected by it if they are adults)
I would get pictures but my camera charger broke when one of the pieces fell off. It's complicated. I'll see if my neighbor can fix it. Thanks again.

I'm having trouble finding fuzzy stuff in the tank now. I've been trying to grind the food up into smaller pieces so the fry don't leave any over. That seems to be working. Not one dead one yet. *grins*
