hey all....not to try and take away from john`s snail problem.....but i can`t believe it, i actually went and spent money on a snail. bought a small nerite snail. tried to hide him well....but his fate may be already sealed...but we`ll see. anyways, after all the talk of them from before, figured i`d give `em a try. btw, he was $4.99 at Big Al`s

Freshwater or saltwater nerite? If it's a freshwater one you don't have to worry about it breeding because they need brackish water for their eggs to hatch. But if they do lay eggs you've got to get them out soon because if they harden they're hard to get off. I've had mostly apple snails but I had a few nerites once. Since I have loaches in all of my tanks I don't think I'll have any more any time soon.

I think these are a good choice for Freshwater snails as Kagome already mentioned.
My experience with these snails kept in FW is limited (most of my experience is second hand from my friends in the maintenance business I left behind). I have kept many of the marine variety though.
How is the snail doing with your veaja as John inquired?

well....my nerite was brown with black stripes....very pretty. the only reason i got this snail IS because of its inability to reproduce in fresh water. i do keep salt in my tank....but not enough to allow these to reproduce.
now the big question....how is this lil guy faring with the vieja....alas...I think not well. I can`t find him in the tank, but thats not to say hes not there. the tank is big and hes small. hope he shows his slimey lil self sooner than later....
