for those of you that won`t read the article, HITH or larteral line disease is ALMOST exclusively a cichlid condition. i say almost, cause it does occasionally infect other species....

I once thought my goldfish had it a few years ago. Turns out the holes were the fish's nostrils and pits in the side of their head for sound or something like that.

when a fish has HITH....you know it. there is a pic of a couple blood parrots i cured on the home page. those leisions couldnt be mistaken as nostrils. they are big ugly holes when it goes to long without treatment.on a good note. the disease in my opinion takes awhile ....but has a great success rate for curing. altho a cure is only temporary if you continue bad habbits. once a fish has had it once, they are suseptible to it
