Jon, funny. No, doesn't upset me, just gave my best advice. I have bought fish from Aquabid...I bought Haplochromis sp. Kenya Golds on there. I asked someone I know who is very good with Vics, and he said that line was great, and to get them. I've bought plecos and my little Rhinogobies from Aquabid as well. I just advise against it unless you are sure of the seller.
Sorry you have lost some. I hope the rest continue to do well. Shipping can be hard on fish.

I'm guessing it is the way they were shipped. Both times including yesterday when I have gotten fish from Dave they are not lying on their sides...They are still very active and jumpy. Did the guy use a heat pack? If not maybe they got too cold.

The Neochromis are my husband and my favorite Victorian in our house. That male is just superb, my other was beautiful and silvery, but this one just takes the cake.
I plan to move males around to vary the bloodlines as best I can, and be ready to build another colony. These fish tend to kill each other off, but I'm hoping to lower the aggression some by crowding them.
I was talking to Rare Dave about the problem I'm having with fry, and he said that the curved tails are common in Victorians that breed young. That the mouthbrooders don't have room for all of the fry that they carry, and some get "crimped." He said as the females grow, that I should see this problem less and less. Still, won't hurt to add new blood to my colony.

I find it really amazing how similar the look this species has to the Kyoga Flamebacks and Fulu. Though not quite as silver as the Fulu, the overall pattern along the dorsal and tail fins, and the body striping and head coloring looks similar.

I don't want to hijack or off track this tread responses, but I am also figuring you are likely the best person to answer this one. Every time I see this offered in eBay or aquabid, people jump on this one long before it's even time to close. All the time. What the hell are these guys and why is everyone so crazy to get their hands on them? Is this another Vic? www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwcichlidsv&1232995170

Hijack away! I don't mind having discussions here. I love to learn, and to hear about other fish. You aren't going to hurt my feelings with asking questions.
Thank Brenda. Walt is awesome with this camera for only having it a couple of days. This is the first time we've been able to get good pics of my Lutea...I'm just thrilled with them!

Thanks Eve, I love my fish too. I'm really lucky to live in San Antonio and have access to all sorts of neat fish.
And I'll give my husband the compliment on the pics, that's all him.

OK, I have problems, which Brenda finds funny.
I have one female fulu that has released fry. I have 2 more in isolation tanks, waiting to release.
And now, in the main tank, I found 3 more!! I'm going to have to set up some more fry tanks, my husband went to get filters. I'm about to be overwhelmed with Xmas fulus!!
