I am so excited. My P.Chromogynos has spit!!! I have only seen 4 babies at this point but not sure I expect many more, if any. She is not even 2" yet and this is her first hold. I also have another holding female who should spit soon as well. These fish are red listed as critically endangered so it feels really good to get them to reproduce!!! It is an amazing feeling!!!

Congrats Brenda! You defintely must be proud ;D Question, is this your fish: I was talking via phone to Jon the other day and noted to him that following his and your fish required "play bill", so I just want to keep it straight. I am referencing this site: www.iucnredlist.org/details/60647Carl

Here is a pic of daddy...I have a colony of 7 of these guys, so far, 3 males and 2 females. The remaining 2 I am not sure yet as to what they are. Hopefully they are female. I will be keeping some more females for my group so I can have a good ratio and will probably get rid of some males once I know for sure what I have. I would like to ultimetly have 2 males 6-7 females.

That's a great looking fish you got there Brenda. I see the christmas fulu's getting offered more now on aquabid, and that or the Pundamilla Nyeire (Crimson Tides) would be the last one I plan on getting. I personally like the looks of Victorians in general more now then the typical Malawi's I have. Eventually I'm going to phase out these Malawi's because they are just so common in the hobby.
The Obliquedins have spawned, or at least pretty sure that one female is holding. She'll sit in the back of the tank away from everyone and has a small bulge in her mouth. Can't really see in but it's all the signs shes got a brood. I also saw one of those juvenile Flavus spawn with the adult male, and as you said, I can't believe she's spawning at her size. She's so much smaller then her mom was when she spawned.
I'd spoken with Bill and now Carl just yesterday about this. I'm getting a bit worried about the effect this might have on her. Bill is of the belief that spawning too soon causes an almost stunting in the females, as too much of their food will get devoted to egg production. However, with the Tilapia and Nossibee's in the 100, I really don't have a place to put them a few months to mature up a bit more. One very young female, so far has a brood going a couple days. I'm watching to see how she does. I still have about 35 more yellows, in addition to the 25 leftover from what I sent out in the previous brood, now growing in the 15. Too young to move out without possibly being eaten, so this is going to get a little challenging.
I still have no intentions to isolated that one female holding as I know whatever she has, are all hybrids. I feel bad because it looks like she desperately wants to find a place to spit that brood out, but I don't see the sense to save a group of hybrids I can do nothing with. So now I have that fish, plus a Flavus and Obliquedins holding and will have to figure, who's going to go where to deliver these broods.
Still no luck getting a second group of eggs laid yet either from the Nossibee's. It looks as if the females want to, but for some reason, the male seems to attack and chase them off more then try to spawn.

Congratulations Brenda and Jon! You both must be very proud of yourselves!
Brenda, you're very lucky to have successfully bred a critically endangered species! Maybe if you sell their offspring, people will breed them like you are and they will make a come-back.

Thanks Jon!!! That is weird the way the male is acting because it does look like the female wants too. Maybe, he wants to make the first move???lol
I know how it is to need ore places for babies. I will be getting a couple more small tanks for now and will probably phase out my Malawi's also. I may keep my male peacock becaus eI really like him...I don't know. My female is holding again and is going to have to spit in the big tank and if any make then they were meant to make it. Hope that doesn't sound to mean but it is how life would work in the wild. I may be able to move her if I pull her 1st batch of bigger babies out of the 10 and throw themin the 90, but I can't do that much more until I see what the market is for the Sunshine's around here. I don't want to many that I can't get rid of them. I am going to donate some to local clubs as well.

My second female has released babies!!!!! Hers still have the yolk sac on them. I was worried about them but I think they are going to make it. She spit them Sunday night...She still pics them up and they can scoot around, they try to swim but can usually just manage a flutter. So far I have a total of 12...6 from each mama, which isn't bad considering from what I've read they usually only have about a dozen at a time, and these are first timers!!

Very cute picture. Great job on the fry Brenda!
I think that breeding journals would be a good idea too. For a lot of us fish breeders, it could probably come in handy.
