Just looking for some help determining the kind of algae this is, so that I can make the appropriate changes. Thanks! Attachments:

Hello Katie! This kind of algae is known as common green algae and is actually desirable for use in nitrate removal. You should be fine to leave it as it is. However, if you find it becoming out of hand you can simply scrape it off the glass it may be on and rinsing off plastic plants with a 1/25 bleach/water solution (followed by a rinsing with de-chlorinators and water) prior to your water change is all that's needed to control. The suggestion for control was taken from our article on different types of algae, if you'd like to have it for reference in the future: www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2008/04/aquarium-algae.html

Thank you! I had my suspicions but I did not want to mistake it for something else and then make it worse by treating it incorrectly.
