Does anyone know what this is, how it may have happened and how to fix it? How can I keep this from happening to other fish? Thank you for any advice! Attachments:Jalo Video.mov (2.84 MB)

Sorry about the issue with your fish buddy. It kinda looks like prolapse, but I don't see the intestine. Could it be mold/fungus? It's just a clear bubble?

right. It almost looks fungal to me and if it were my fish I would just be upping the electrolyte minerals to see if it heals itself. I've seen many fungus issues cured by keeping up with minerals.

* Update* The sick Jalo seems to be doing better! Started epsom salt on Tuesday. He is a bit more active, the "mass" seems to be shrinking and he even tried to eat today. He kept spitting it back out, but at least the desire and interest is there. I am hopeful this is a good sign that he may fully recover. Thoughts? Also....added 11 tablespoons of epsom salt over 6 hours (I'm not sure how this affects the water parameters) on Tuesday. Water parameters as of today: pH: 8.2-8.3 kH: 143.2 gH: 644.4 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 40-80 In addition, as a part of general maintenance I am using Prime, Stability, Seachem Rift Lake Salts, Malawi Buffer and Wondershells. I am adding them as necessary/with water changes. The pH has remained fairly steady at 8.0 so I haven't been too concerned that the kH is not very high. The gH seems to be much higher than normal (358). Attachments:Jalo Video 2.MOV (1.82 MB)

Glad he's doing better!
The GH is a bit high, could consider less WS when you replace the next one. Wouldn't think it's the cause though. Likely just keeping water parameters in check he should continue to feel better.
