USA Made Sponge filters over Chinese Knock offs

A little editorial here and hopefully this is not too political, but we think honest persons on all sides can agree here.
With all the controversy surrounding with how China handled the Covid 19 pandemic (at the very least waiting some time before admitting there was a problem, all the while stock piling products the world would need for a pandemic), many have asked how to punish China which really is not all that easy as so many products we use have only one source and that is China!
HOWEVER there is at least one product that was patented in the USA with China violating this patent many years back and now flooding the market with knock offs with inferior quality sponges at that, and that is aquarium sponge filters.
We ask why purchase an inferior sponge filter from Amazon or even Co-Op that is made in China when you can purchase the real deal with many more options including both patented fine AND coarse sponges (including combos, pond/sump versions, and pre-filters)?
